Burren Wedge Tomb AKA The Giants Leap This spectacular wedge tomb was one of the main reasons we visited the Burren region. The tomb is over 7 metres long and is aligned west /east. At the western end there is a portico with a roofstone covered with cup and ring marks, see the boulder burial for more information on the rock art. The portico is separated from the main gallery by a large septal slab. There are a total of five intact roofstones covering this long tomb and set back from the sides of the main gallery you can see the double walling present at this site, one of the walls can be seen to the right in the image above.
At present this tomb is hidden amongst the pine forest but originally there would have been fantastic views of the surrounding area from here. |

Situated: In the Burren prehistoric complex about 4 kilometres south of Blacklion on the Cavan Way.
